Museum visits

Exhibition Light-Land-Scapes & Collection

Discover our temporary exhibition Light-Land-Scapes as well as excerpts of our top-class permanent exhibition in an expert guided tour. The encounter between historical industrial architecture and contemporary art is staged in a fascinating and spectacular way.

In "Light-Land-Scapes" visitors are invited to understand landscape no longer as an image of nature, but rather as a sensual interplay of light, space and experience. In the vaults located deep underground, luminous topographies are created - not images of nature, but rather accessible spaces of experience between art, architecture and perception.

Once a month you have the opportunity to visit the museum without a guided tour.

Knowledgeable art educators are available to answer your questions throughout the museum. Take your time to enjoy the unique works of art at your own pace.

Family Tour

A tour especially for children up to 12 years!

The museum makes the visit an exciting experience for children and accompanying adults. In the family tour you move around together 10 meters underground in a labyrinth of luminous cellars and dark tunnels, and explore the light art installations in a child-friendly way.

Skyspace

James Turrell's colourful lighting experience Skyspace comes to life during sunset. Natural and artificial light meet at dusk and mutate the sky into a colour surface that seems to close down the room from the sky and yet is the sky itself.

The art work entitled 'Third Breath', which has been especially designed for Unna, links two perceptual rooms, Skyspace and Camera Obscura, and allows visitors to get a completely new visual experience.

Thirsty Thursdays

Fancy a light experience after work? Then quench your thirst for knowledge! Once a month, the museum organises a relaxed and luminous after-work museum moment. Up to two hours of art enjoyment in a relaxed atmosphere will already put you in a weekend mood.

Photo Tour

For all visitors with an enthusiasm for photography, we regularly organize photo tours where you have the opportunity to go searching for motifs at your own pace.

The museum’s unique installations and charismatic industrial spaces seduce with a unique photo backdrop. Please bring your camera and tripod.

In a small group, you will be accompanied by one of our guides for two hours.

Combi-ticket with Haus Opherdicke

The museum offers you art enjoyment in a double pack.

During the Open Visit, in addition to the light art installations, you also visit the current exhibition at Museum Haus Opherdicke at a reduced price.

To visit our museum, book your ticket selecting the time slot from the calendar below and click "Book now". With this ticket you visit Haus Opherdicke on the same day from 10:30 until 17:00.

Cancellation policy

Booked tickets may be cancelled following the instructions on the order confirmation email and the following conditions apply: Cancelling is not possible after 24 hours before the event takes place.

Planning

We make sure that time slots are available well in advance to facilitate planning your visit. When fully booked, we do our best to make new time slots available.

The museum is closed on Mondays, except for private tours, as well as on the 1st of January and the 24th, 25th and 31st of December.

Our opening times are flexible, depending on scheduled events. From half an hour before the start of an event, our staff is ready to welcome visitors.
